The foundation of a process consists of what BPMN calls, a number of lanes.
•Lane - Describes who is executing a specific set of tasks. It can be an organization, a department, a role, or any other group of participants.
•Sub-lane - A lane can be divided into several sub-lanes.
1.In the WorkflowStudio window, select the Create tab.
2.Select Process and press Place object or double-click. A dialog opens.
3.In the Process tab, set a Name for the process. You can also set ID and Description to add information about the process.
The description is not shown anywhere in the process but can be used for internal information. |
You can decide whether a process should be selectable in task templates in Organizer. When you create a new process, it is set to be selectable by default, but this can be changed. 1.In the drop-down menu for Selectable for task template, select No. |
4.In the Lanes tab, decide how you want to handle the swimlanes of the process. Lanes represents the participants of the process. When creating the process, two swimlanes are created as default, Unit A and Unit B. The units can be changed or deleted.
The swimlanes will be seen as an illustration in the process window. The number of rows will steer how big the swimlane will be in the process. When the name of the lane is long, the number of rows needs to be higher for the name to fit in the lane in the drawing. |

The attribute form for a process displays: •Created by - Username of the logged-in user who created the process. •Created at - Date when the process was created. •Published by - Username of the user who published the process. •Published - Date when the process was published. •Depublished by - Username of the user who depublished the process. •Depublished - Date when the process was depublished. |
A sub-process is a stand-alone process that can be reused in the same main process or in several different main processes to avoid creating the same process several times. It can also be used independently.
The sub-process is modeled as a regular process, see section Model a process and its subsections. The sub-process can then be linked to a call activity in a main process.
In the Included/referring processes tab in the process's attribute form, it shows whether the process is used as a sub-process or has included sub-processes.
See section Create a Call activity for information on call activities. |
