When importing DXF files in dpPower , you must have access to a so-called mapping file. A mapping file is a file containing information on how to translate data in a DXF file into data in dpPower.
You can create the mapping file manually in a standard text editor. In dpPower there is a tool that facilitates that work - the tool identifies the layer contents of a DXF file and then generates a text file with the "half" mapping completed, ie the keys in the DXF file which must then be mapped to suitable components in dpPower.
With the help of so-called mapping files, it is possible to use data in dpPower created in another program, for example in AutoCad. Geographic data from DWG files, which are based on AutoCad's own vector file format, can be used if they are first saved in the Drawing eXchange Format (DXF) export format. DXF is a text-based ASCII format, which most programs can use, including dpSpatial.
1.Select File> Import> DXF / DWG> Generate DXF / DWG map file...
2.In the Open window, select the DXF / DWG file for which you want to create a mapping file.
3.Press Open.
4.Save the draft to the mapping file.
5.Open the mapping file in a text editor and complete it by mapping the left side of the file to the appropriate components.
