Types of drawing attributes

Drawing attributes can be divided into two main groups:

Centrally controlled drawing attributes, which are managed for the entire system.

Non-centrally controlled drawing attributes, which can be modified by individual users.

Centrally controlled drawing attributes

Centrally managed drawing attributes are used to ensure that map data is presented in a consistent manner for all users.

Normal drawing attributes

Normal drawing attributes define the basic appearance of the maps. They are configured by the system administrator in the Drawing Attributes tool and control how symbols, lines, text, and other graphical components are displayed.

Since the same settings are used for all users, the maps have a consistent appearance throughout the organization.

Alternative drawing attributes

Alternative drawing attributes are used to automatically change the appearance of objects based on their properties, such as stage.

They can be used to display objects in different colors or line styles depending on whether the objects are planned, in operation, or demolished.

When alternative drawing attributes are used, all objects within the current object category are affected.

Non-centrally controlled drawing attributes

Non-centrally controlled drawing attributes are used for temporary or user-specific customizations.

Individual drawing attributes

Individual drawing attributes are applied directly to individual objects when they are created or edited.

They are used, among other things, for:

Free graphics

Help graphics

Temporary drawing attributes

Temporary drawing attributes are often used to:

highlight certain objects on the map,

highlight specific information,

customize the map for printing or plotting.

To restore the components to their original appearance, use the Reset command on the Map tab.
