Info - Outages

In the tab Outages, you will find relevant information for an ongoing outage.

Most of the text fields can be edited by the operator but the changes will have the desired effect first after the Save button has been used.

Status

The Status field will show the current outage state.

Not verified

Based on the fault reports being registered, Operator will group the incoming calls to probable fault locations.
These outages are not considered to be ongoing before having received the status Verified.
It is not possible to create outages with this state manually. For more information about fault reports see section Fault report.

Verified

This status indicates an ongoing outage. An outage that is created manually from an operator or by a SCADA integration will receive this status as default. A Not verified outage can be changed to Verified by the operator.

Note! That no customers will appear as affected by the outage when a change to Verified status occurs. This is done first after a row in the tab switch order has been executed. An outage will hence get the status Verified when an operation has been executed. See section Switch order.

Fixed

This status should be used when an outage is electrically finished, i.e. when all customers have regained their power and no more switching operations will occur. It is not possible to change the status to Fixed if some customers still is out of power.
A Fixed outage indicates that no more work in the network will be done, but still some information will have to be entered to receive a correct outage history.

Ended

When all mandatory information regarding the outage has been entered in the tabs Outage and Other info, the operator in charge should change the status to Ended.
This indicates that the outage will disappear from the active list, if filtered on All valid, and that the information will be added to the outage history. If the outage qualifies for outage compensation payment, a dialog opens when the outage ends The outage meets the requirements of outage compensation.

If there are temporary objects linked to the outage, they are displayed in a dialog box. To delete them, right-click on the object in the dialog and select Delete selected objects.

Invalid

If an outage has been created but later proved to be incorrect, the outage status should be set to Invalid.
This means that the outage will not be displayed in the outage list, as invalid outages only will be shown if filtered explicitly.
When an outage status is set to Invalid all executed switching operations in the switch order will be reverted. It is not possible to change an outage to a Valid status again once it has been set to invalid.
Invalid outages will not be part of the outage history.

For each status, it is possible to specify which mandatory fields should be filled in. If not all mandatory fields are filled in, a dialog will open when the outage is saved.

For example, if an outage is set to Ended and there are still some mandatory fields left unfilled, a dialog will open listing the mandatory fields. Use the drop-down lists to set the missing values and press OK.

This ensures that sufficient information is available to generate outage statistics.

Type

The field shows outage type. You can change the outage type directly in the field in the drop-down list.

Operation outage

The outage type Operation outage refers to the outages that are due to an unplanned event in the network. These outages are usually created either by a SCADA event, meter alarms that meet the criteria for creating an outage or error reports from customers. In countries where the authorities differentiate between announced / unannounced outages as opposed to planned / unplanned outages the type of outages counted as unannounced.

Customer initiated work

The outage type Customer initiated work refers to various forms of work initiated by the customer and which require that the power has been turned off for the delivery point by the network owner. These outages are neither reported to the authorities nor included in the calculation of key figures such as SAIDI.

Planned outage

The outage type Planned outage refers to the outages that are created in connection with a planned work or a planned switching in the network. In countries where the authorities differentiate between announced / unannounced outages in contrast to planned / unplanned outages, the outage type planned outage is counted as announced. All outages arising from an operating order in Operator are created as the type of planned outage.

Type of fault

The field Type of fault is by default given the value Completely de-energized. Other values such as Flashes, De-energized phase, Miscellaneous can be configured.

Priority

The field is an indication regarding the outage importance. Valid values are: Undefined, High and Low.

Times

Reported time - Time when the outage was created or reported.

Start time - Time when the first operation is executed.

End time - Time time when the outage is set to Fixed.

Planned start time and Planned end time

Specified to allow customer services to inform customers about current outages.

Feeding

Contains an automatically generated ID number for the outage.

Contains an optional outage text which can be entered manually.
