Automatic progress in workflows

A tasks workflow is driven forward by ending one activity or decision point and starting the next. Traditionally, this has been done manually through the End Activity button, whereby a dialog box with the option to start subsequent activity opens. This order has been supplemented in later versions of Organizer with the possibility to start a subsequent activity (or decision point) automatically, as soon as the previous one has an end date saved. Such a progress method is, for example, important to be able to drive the workflow forward when activities are finished from the Organizer Webmap by "submitting" them.

The system thus has two alternative propulsion methods. It is possible for an organization to configure which of these should be used, the manual or the automatic. It has become so common that organizations want the automatic method that this is today the standard.

Organizations that wish to use manual progress can have this setup done but it must be done by Digpro support. It is not possible for an organization to do this configuration itself. It is then valid for progress in all task types. You cannot have manual propulsion for some missions and automatic propulsion for others.

If you want to have manual propulsion as standard, but in certain situations have automatic propulsion, this can be achieved to some extent by using activity chains. For more information, see section Activity chains.
