Remove cable/pipe

This function removes a cable or a pipe from its parent object.

In order to remove a piping object which has one parent object only, it must be empty of content.

When using this function it is possible to create a network against the data model rules. It is possible for example, to remove a cable from a pipe even if that same cable is running in a neighboring route. The cable in this case does not run unbroken through all routes as data model rules stipulate.

The cross section displays the parent object at the current point in the network. This function operates on the object as it appears in the cross section, focusing on the relation between the selected object and its parent object.

1.Select Edit > Pipes and routes > Remove cable/pipe.

2.Select the cable or the pipe you wish to remove. Depending on how the object is connected to other network objects, a dialog opens.

oThe object is contained in several parent objects.

Example: A cable object is running in two different pipe objects along a path. The relation between the cable and the current pipe is removed, essentially shortening the cable. The selected cable symbol in the cross section is deleted.

Geographical layout lines and/or endpoint lines are not updated, this needs to be done manually.

oThe object is contained in only one parent object.

Example: A pipe object is running only in one route object. The pipe object is removed.
