Geographic layout lines are used to visualize the actual geographic route of cables, Pipes/ducts, and Multiducts on the map.

The layout line is generated based on the routes where the object is directly or indirectly present. For a geographic layout line to be created, the object’s layout must follow a continuous route without branches or breaks.

Minor breaks between a route and a connected node are accepted. The tolerance for such deviations is specified under Tools > Settings.

 

About Line representations

Cables, conduits, and multiducts are not normally drawn as lines on the map. Instead, they are represented by the routes, pipes/ducts, and conduits in which they are located.

In certain situations, it may be useful to visualize the objects as lines, for example, when exporting to other systems, preparing documentation for fieldwork, or analyzing the network’s extent.

For this purpose, there are two types of line representations:

•Endpoint lines, which are drawn as straight lines between the object’s endpoints.

•Geographic layout lines, which follow the object’s actual path through the network.
