The Operator module conducts topology tracing, analyzes customers affected and creates outage statistics based on the posted network having the state in use. To obtain best performance the network topology is stored in a structure called the topology analyzer. The topology analyzer is installed and maintained in the web server's internal memory.
The topology analyzer is started automatically the first time a user starts the Operator module and operates until the web server is restarted.
When changes are made in the network by posting a changeset, the topology analyzer is updated automatically. When changes that have been made are affecting a network that is In use, the topology analyzer do not need to be restarted. However, it is possible to restart the topology analyzer manually by using the function found under Operator > Reset the topology analyzer. The first step in troubleshooting Operator, is to always reset the topology analyzer to verify and ensure that the network is updated.
