Metadata is "information about data" and describes in various ways the structure and/or content of a data set, for example a database object. In dpSpatial there are several tools for extracting metadata, Reader for object metadata and the Metadata manual.
The object metadata browser is used to ,in a structured way, generate and display information about
▪Subtypes and component types that is included in a particular object type.
▪Code lists that are used by the object type.
▪Which attribute fields that are found in the data components table.
▪Which way attribute data is connected to code lists.
Select Administration > Object metadata browser. A window with the browser opens in the web browser.
In the Show metadata for a component type or object type browser window it is possible to search for object type, component type, subtype name, code list name, and field name. Use the search fields by entering number or name for the type and then click search. In the same way, it is possible to present metadata for the tabs Component type, Subtype name, Code lists and Field name.
Object type: |
This field may be used to display which subtypes and component types that are included in an object type. The information will be displayed under the fields with divided headings for object name, main component, subtypes and a table for all components included. The table for all components included is clickable, this to display more detailed information. |
Component type: |
This field may be used to display a component type and its associated meta data. Enter component type name or component type number and click Search. Information regarding table name, attribute field properties and which object types that the component type belongs to, will be displayed in the Found the following component types field below the browser. When searching for object data components (for example cable data and joint data) information regarding code lists that selected attribute fields in the component table are connected to. |
Subtype name: |
This field may be used to display subtypes and its associated meta data. Simply enter the subtype name and press Search.The subtype Information will be displayed in the Found the following object types and subtypes field below the browser. |
Codelist name: |
This field may be used to display a summary of those code lists the object type is using. Enter a object data component (for example cable data or joint data) and press Search. If searching for specific code lists , enter the code list name in the field and press Search. If the exact name of the code list has not been specified, a list with relevant search results will be displayed instead. |
Field name: |
This field may be used to display field name and its associated meta data. Simply enter the field name and press Search.The field name Information will be displayed in the Found the following fields field below the browser |
