Graphical presentation of protection characteristics

Every object containing any type of protecting function can be presented graphically in a chart dialog.

Multiple protections in the same diagram based on a selected object

If multiple protections are selected it is possible to receive a diagram where all the highlighted/selected protections/characteristics for the protections are displayed in the same diagram.

1.Select objects.

2.Select the menu alternative Analyzer > Show protection characteristics in a diagram > Selected objects.

Track protection in radials down the network

It is possible to present all protections obtained by means of tracking in the network, where only protection along radial feeding paths is shown. The radials can either be traced upwards or downwards in the net.

1. Select menu item Analyzer > Show protection characteristics in chart > Track from feeding point.

Make sure that the correct stages and operating mode are correct. Then select the type/voltage of the supply point for which the tracking is to stop. In the example, the network is tracked until a 0.400kV rails in network stations are found. All intermediate protections will be displayed.

Mark the feeding point, the top point, from where protection is to be traced down the network. The tracking can be started from e.g. rails and outgoing bays.

After the tracking is completed, a list of the radials found is displayed. The radials can be highlighted by selecting a row and right-clicking on Highlight objects. To display diagrams for all protections along a radial, press the Show diagram button.

Navigate charts and change settings

There are several ways to navigate the chart.

Normal, Only X-axis and Only Y-axis are affected via the scroll wheel on the mouse.

The Enter Values function… is used to cut out interesting parts of the graph for detailed study without having to use scroll functions.

If the kVA button is selected, a normalization will take place of the function curves based on the voltage levels at which the protection is located. The X-axis changes from absolute currents to short-circuit power to obtain a voltage-independent reference.

The button with the light bulb symbol is used to highlight the tracked radial afterwards.

The curves in the diagram are linked to their objects in the documentation. For example, mark a protection in the legend box and the corresponding graphic curve will light up. With the usual right-click function, the current menu selections for different activities are displayed.

If relay protection is included in the diagram, you can press the button to select which relay protection mode is to be displayed in the diagram.

By going to Settings > Select line appearance in the diagram, you can change the appearance of each line in the diagram.
