Generator management

Generator

Asynchronous generator

Both active power and reactive power must be entered.

Note! It is the generator production that is considered. Possible consumption of reactive power is hence given as a negative value.

The voltage is calculated based on generation data. (P and Q).

Results after a load calculation.

Voltage is calculated. The power flow in conductors to the generator is based on the input data.

Synchronous generator

Reactive power should not be given but the set voltage must be specified.

Set voltage
The voltage should be given in kV and as the phase to phase voltage. This also applies to low voltage generation.

Reactive power restrictions
If you wish to set the reactive power limits, this can be done using the fields Max and Min reactive power.

Note! The desired voltage can only be reached if generated / consumed reactive power is within the min-max limits if these limits are given.

Results from a calculation with synchronous generator.

Mandatory data for a calculation with a generator

Load flow calculation

Active power (kW).

Reactive power (kVAr) or Voltage for regulation (phase to phase voltage).

Active power and Reactive power will be regarded as generation in the network calculation.

If the Reactive power is set to = 0, and a Voltage (phase to phase) has been set, the calculation will keep the set voltage in the generator point (Busbar), and generate the necessary reactive power in order to keep that voltage. (PV-node).

Fault analysis calculation

Rated power (kVA).

Rated voltage (kV).

Fault analysis data can be given in two different ways:

1.Short-circuit impedances.

Positive sequence reactance (short-circuit reactance Ohm).

Positive sequence resistance (short-circuit resistance Ohm).

2.Short circuit power.
Positive sequence active power (kW).
Positive sequence reactive power (kVAr).

Calculation type (Codelist, for instance Wind power).
