Offset object

Offset is used to create new line objects or polygons that follow the path of an existing object at a specified distance.

This function is often used when placing, for example, wires, cables, routes, or pipes that are to follow a road, curb, or other existing geometry.

Offset

1.Start placing the object.

2.Right-click and select Offset.

3.Select the line or polygon to be used as a template.

4.Specify the start and end points for the portion of the object to be copied.

5.Specify the desired distance from the template.

6.Select which side of the object the new geometry should be placed on.

The new object is placed parallel to the selected geometry.

Once placement is complete, you can continue to place additional breakpoints or finish the placement by selecting Create Component or double-clicking in the map.

Offset whole line object

The Offset whole line object function is used when the entire extent of the object is to be copied.

1.Start placing the object.

2.Right-click and select Offset whole line object.

3.Select the object to be used as the template.

4.Specify the desired distance from the object.

5.Select which side of the object the new geometry should be placed on.

6.Finish placing the line by double-clicking or right-clicking and selecting Create Component.

The new geometry is created based on the entire extent of the template.

Continue offset whole line object

After using the Offset whole line object command, the Continue offset whole line object option becomes available.

This function is used to repeat the offset with the same settings without having to restart the workflow.
