A cable overview shows a cable's connections between two specified nodes, as well as additional branches along the route. The cable overview traces out at cable level and identifies connected objects. The tracing stops in case of patching, unless the cables are connected to the rack in which case the trace will continue.
Cable level tracing is different from fiber level tracing. The cable overview will, for the branching, detect all cables that are connected to the same object as the main cable trace. This does not mean that the cables are connected on the fiber level. The Graphical cable disposition report is presenting its result in a similar way as the cable overview, but its trace is on the fiber level rather than the cable level. It also continues the trace over a patch. |
In connection with the generation of cable overviews, a tracing of the network is performed along the specified route and its branches. Any errors in the network are presented in the Found errors in the network window.
1.Select Reports > Cable overview > [desired view to display the overview in]. You can select to display the cable overview in: Cable overview in active view, Cable overview in other view or Cable overview in new window.
2.Select a cable in the graphic view. The Cable Overview dialog opens.
The Distance column in the Cable overview dialog, refers to the number of nodes along the route in which the cable is spliced/connected. If the distance is "0", it means that the selected cable runs undivided to the node. |
3.Select a start node in the table on the left. Valid end nodes are shown in the table to the right.
4.Select an end node. Now you have defined the route of the main road.
5.Specify maximum branch depth, i.e. the number of branches out from the defined main road to be included in the overview. If you leave the field empty, all possible branches are displayed.
6.In the drop-down menu, select your preferred Layout.
oTree, straight main route - The nodes along the main road are drawn in a straight horizontal line. Any branches are drawn in vertical lines.
oTree, folded main route - The main road is folded when necessary. Any branches are drawn horizontally or vertically.
oGraph - The nodes are drawn based on their geographic location in the map. The layout provides a generalized presentation of the geography of the nodes.
7.Press OK. The cable overview is generated in the selected view/window.
