<< Click to Display Table of Contents >> dpCom > Menu reference > Edit > Duct > Connect ducts/pipes |
The tool can be initiated for a node, typically an event node or a manhole, or for an existing duct joint closure object within a node. Based on this selection, duct connections will be placed either directly in the node or within the duct joint closure. If the node contains one duct joint closure between the ducts, the connection is created in the joint and not in the node. If the node lacks or contains multiple duct joint closures, then the connection is still created in the node.
1.Select Edit > Duct > Connect Ducts/pipes.
2.Select a node or an existing duct joint closure object within a node in the map. The connection form opens.
3.Select the ducts to be merged in the upper part of the form and press Connect in the toolbar. The selected ducts will disappear from the upper section of the tool, and a new row representing the connection will appear in the lower section. To facilitate the connection, it is possible to set IDs on event nodes which have been created when splitting route. This means that you can see in which direction you want to connect the duct.
In the bottom of the connection form, you can see how many rows you have selected. |
The connection form is divided into two sections:
Lists available ducts for connection.
1.Select the parent of the duct from the drop-down list. For a microduct within a multiduct, the parent is the multiduct. For a single duct, the parent may be a pipe or a route.
The drop-down list displays the ID of the nearest node, so it is advisable to name nodes, including event nodes. |
2.For split ducts within a multiduct, ensure you select the multiduct in the correct direction. To determine the direction:
a.Select the multiduct, right-click on the ducts that appear in the table and select Highlight > Objects above. If a duct has objects above, the closest object to the duct is displayed. An asterisk after an object indicates multiple objects above the duct.
You can also: Select the multiduct, right-click on the ducts that appear in the table and select Highlight objects above > [desired color]. |
Displays existing duct connections along with microducts that are passing through without being cut. Passing ducts are shown in grey, while connected ducts are displayed in colors corresponding to their state. Connected ducts have a reference to the pipe node object that connects them.
If ducts are not displayed in the connection form, it may be due to:
•The duct does not have an ID.
•The duct does not have a color.
•The object above does not have an ID.
The tool Connect ducts/pipes is available in several locations, to use it you can also:
•Right-click on the duct joint box (the text) that has been linked to an event node and select Related data > Connect ducts/pipes.
•In the toolbar, press Connect ducts/pipes .
