Create threads/carriers for copper cable

Threads/carriers are generated by creating threads/carriers for copper cable.

To do this it requires that you have specified the Cable type in the attribute form for the cable. When placing the cable you can select the Cable type but it is also possible to select the cable type afterward by selecting Show/change attributes and select the current cable. The Cable type controls how many threads/carriers that are created.

Create threads/carriers when placing cable

It is possible to create copper threads/carriers when placing the cable. There is a checkbox Create threads/carriers for copper cable in the dialog place object, see the example below. Check the box if you want to generate threads/carriers when placing the cable.

More information

Create threads/carriers after placement

If you choose not to create threads/carriers when creating the cable, select Edit > Thread/carrier > Create threads/carriers for copper cable.

If the cable type is not set, you are prompted to enter the cable type in the attribute form before any wires can be created.

Control that the threads/carriers have been generated

To control that the wires have been generated for the cable, select Show/change attributes for the current cable and open the tab Related data. Expand the tree view for the cable to check that the wires have been created.

Create new threads/carriers

It is possible to create new threads/carriers to a copper cable that already has generated wires. This is useful if you have changed the attribute Cable type for the cable object.

When you generate wires for a cable that already has wires, a warning dialog is opened.

Press OK to confirm the generation or Cancel to cancel.
