<< Click to Display Table of Contents >> dpCom > Menu reference > Edit > Fiber > Generate fibers for cable |
Fibers are created by generating fibers for a cable. To execute this function you have to set the attribute Cable type for the cable you want to populate with fibers (see example below). This may be done either directly in the attribute form when you create a cable, or at any time later. Right-click on the cable and select Show/Change attribute for the cable. The attribute Cable type controls the number of fibers to create.
Enter the cable type in the cable type drop-down menu.
If fiber has already been generated and you later change to a Cable type that does not have the same number of fibers, the warning Wrong number of fibers is displayed. Then regenerate fibers for the cable. |
It is possible to choose that the generation of fiber should take place in connection with the placement of the cable. There is a check box in the lower part of the Place tab. Select the check box if you want to generate fibers when placing the cable.
If you chose not to generate fiber when you created a cable:
•Select Edit > Fiber > Generate fibers for cable.
•Or right-click on the cable and select Related Data > Generate fibers for cable from the right-click menu.
If the cable type is not set, you will be prompted to enter the cable type in the attribute form before fiber generation can take place.
To check that fiber for a cable has been generated, select Show/Change attributes for the current cable and select the Related Data tab. Expand the tree menu for the cable and check that the fiber objects have been created.
It is possible to regenerate fibers into an optocable object that already has fibers. This may be the case if you have changed the Cable Type attribute on the cable object.
If fiber has already been generated and you later change to a Cable type that does not have the same number of fibers, the warning Wrong number of fibers is displayed. Then regenerate fibers for the cable. |
When you generate fibers on a cable that already has fibers, a warning dialog opens.
Press OK to confirm generation, or Cancel to cancel.
